Verification of Competency
Time & cost effective on the job, pre employment and risk mitigation strategies.
Under the legislation in Australia, employers must provide “suitable and adequate” training to
protect persons from risks to their health and safety at work.
We offer VOC for:
What should I choose VOC OR SOA
A VOC IS NOT A QUALIFICATION:
Performance based: Outcomes identifies and address knowledge and skills gaps in participants training and experience when an employee requires a VOC has a near miss or has not met employer requirements or expectations.
Employer Driven: VOC’s can be tailored to site-specific and operational requirements, which provide an internal perspective and allow you to create a training matrix and develop a training needs analysis for COR compliance.
Reassessment Requirements: Industry standards require VOC’s to be reassessed periodically, annually or biannually, to maintain ongoing competency.
On completion of a VOC, if deemed competent, the individual is issued with a certificate, card or some form of documentation with a date that can ne used to book the reassessment date.
VOC sits outside of the VET (Vocational Education & Training) system and its regulator ASQA, there is no quality assurance with a VOC, so be careful who you select to conduct your VOC’s.
At Transport Industry Training Solutions we pride ourselves on conducting VOCs in line with the VET Framework for a SOA.
A SOA IS A QUALIFICATION:
Nationally Recognised: Is a part of a quality assured, Nationally Recognised Training system, issued as a Statement of Attainment.
Pathway to a Qualification: Provides evidence that the participant has been able to demonstrate competency in a specific Nationally Accredited Course, which is a UOC (Unit of Competency), those units make up a Qualification.
Example - TLIC3005 Drive Heavy Combination Vehicle is a prerequisite for TLI31222 Certificate III in Driving Operations and TLI40122 Certificate IV in Specialist Driving Operations.
SOA Issued by an RTO: the training packages are created to meet national standards and a statement of attainment is issued by the RTO, this documentation can then be used as a detailed record of an individual’s achievements via their USI number.
Both of these outcomes assist employers with their WH&S obligations and COR (Chain Of Responsibility) and legislative requirements and sets a precedent of promoting best practice and compliance within the company.
